26 January is known as Republic Day, which the people of India celebrate with great enthusiasm every year. It is celebrated to honor the importance of being the Sovereign Democratic Republic which was announced on 26 January after the enforcement of the Constitution of India in 1950. It is celebrated to enjoy and remember India's historical independence from British rule. 26 January has been declared as a gazetted holiday across the country by the Government of India.
