Before I proceed with my speech, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to my dear students, respected teachers, and the principle sir on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day celebrations that we all here to share the pride of a great nation Has gathered. Congratulations to all the people of India, and yes "I am proud to be an Indian".
Republic Day is the day where we remember 26 January, the day when the "Constitution of India" came into force in 1950. I want to clarify the true meaning of Republic Day but before that, we need to understand what is "constitution" and why it is so important for the country that we adopt it on 26th January every year.
Our constitution outlines fundamental rights, empowers the government and tells us about our duties as responsible citizens. Overall, you cannot expect a democratic free country with a constitution. Today, I feel proud that we are living in the "Republic of India" because of our Constitution. We need Dr for drafting such a powerful constitution of India. The role of Bhimrao Ambedkar should not be forgotten.
Sadly, most people do not realize the importance of Republic Day. I request those citizens that Republic Day is not just a public holiday. A day to remember the marks of the martyrs who lost their lives while protecting our national borders over the years. Its a day to remember the great deeds of freedom fighters who gave us the greatest gift that we ever had i.e. freedom. It is a day to feel proud of the rich culture, integrity, and brotherhood among people of different religions, caste, and creed.
India is a vast country whose borders go from Gujarat to Bengal, Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir but the most important thing is "we are one". Only one of our veins is running blood "Indian patriotism's blood". Today we think about our past as we got independence from 1947 to 2020, we started our journey and how far we went from there.
Today we are fighting terrorism, a crime against women and corruption. I cannot ignore the bitter reality that children were being murdered in school shootings near Karachi and that many such horrific crimes were being committed by people. Whenever such news comes to my ears, I get upset. We had to change things, we had to struggle and the most important thing is that we should remain united to counter such an environment. Remember that no country is complete, it has to be made whole and the responsibility rests on our youth shoulders.
Many positive things are also happening so I can say that there is still hope. I remember some of Albert Einstein's golden words: "Learn from tomorrow, live for today, hope for tomorrow." The important thing is not to stop questioning. “So keep challenging things, if you want to bring change, then be the first to bring change in yourself.
Last but not least, I announced on 26 January, on our National Heritage Day, let's join hands one by one. Salute this land, where we were born, who gave birth to great unforgettable personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, to name a few. United we stand, united we fall. Happy Republic Day 2020 to all of you once again.
